Delicate in both appearance and flavour, its soft, fern-like foliage carries a subtle taste reminiscent of parsley with gentle hints of anise, making it a favourite ingredient in classic French cuisine.

Traditionally known as one of the four essential fines herbes, alongside parsley, chives and tarragon, Chervil has long been used to bring freshness and elegance to soups, omelettes, salads and light sauces. Unlike many stronger herbs, it complements rather than overpowers, adding a refined flavour that chefs have relied upon for generations.

Easy to grow in pots, raised beds or the herb garden, Chervil thrives in cooler conditions and appreciates a little afternoon shade during the height of summer.
