Autumn Thyme Collection
There’s something wonderfully autumnal about thyme. Hardy, aromatic and beautifully textured, it’s one of those herbs that keeps earning its place in the garden long after many of summer’s softer plants have begun to fade.
Our Autumn Thyme Collection brings together six very different varieties, chosen for their contrasting foliage, wonderful fragrance and ability to bring colour and character to pots, borders and herb gardens through autumn and beyond.
From rich golden foliage and flashes of cream and green to soft silvery carpets and wonderfully aromatic culinary varieties, this is a collection that proves there is far more to thyme than the familiar little plant from the supermarket.
The collection contains six plants:
- Thyme Tabor – A wonderfully robust and aromatic thyme with larger leaves than many traditional varieties, making it particularly useful in the kitchen as well as an attractive addition to the herb garden.
- Variegated Lemon Thyme – Beautiful green leaves edged with creamy yellow, accompanied by a delicious citrus fragrance. A fantastic way to bring both brightness and flavour into an autumn herb garden.
- Spicy Thyme – An intensely aromatic variety with a wonderfully strong, warming fragrance. Compact, evergreen and full of character, it’s a brilliant thyme for both cooking and growing.
- Archer’s Gold Thyme – One of the stars of the collection, producing striking golden-yellow foliage that becomes particularly valuable as other colours in the garden begin to disappear.
- Sparkling Bright Thyme – A beautifully variegated thyme whose small leaves create a wonderful patchwork of green and cream. Perfect for adding contrast amongst darker evergreen herbs.
- Woolly Thyme – A completely different-looking thyme, forming soft, silvery-grey mats of tiny leaves. Particularly lovely spilling around stones, over the edges of containers or towards the front of a border.
Together they create a miniature tapestry of gold, silver, green and cream, with each plant bringing its own fragrance, texture and personality.
Why we love this collection
Thyme is one of the great plants for extending interest in the herb garden beyond summer. These varieties are predominantly hardy perennial plants and, given a sunny position and well-drained soil, can return year after year.
Plant them together to create a wonderfully textured thyme garden, scatter them amongst existing herbs, or use them in pots around the patio where you can brush against the foliage and release their fragrance.
