Hotter summers and longer dry spells are changing the way many of us think about our gardens. The Drought Tolerant Herb Plant Collection brings together nine wonderfully aromatic plants that naturally thrive in sunny, free-draining conditions — perfect for creating a beautiful herb garden that doesn't demand constant watering once established.
Many of these herbs originate from the dry, sun-baked landscapes of the Mediterranean, where plants have evolved to cope with periods of heat and limited rainfall. Look closely and you'll see some of those adaptations: the narrow aromatic leaves of Rosemary, the soft silvery foliage of Purple Sage, the tiny leaves of the thymes and the beautifully fragrant foliage of Lavender Impress Purple.
The collection includes five very different thymes. Common Thyme provides the classic aromatic foliage of the traditional kitchen herb, while Spicy Thyme offers something a little bolder. Foxley Thyme and Sparkling Bright Thyme introduce colourful variegated foliage, and Woolly Thyme spreads into a wonderfully soft, silvery carpet.
Alongside them, Compact Marjoram creates neat mounds of aromatic foliage, while Purple Sage brings larger leaves and dramatic colour. Rosemary provides evergreen structure and height, and Lavender Impress Purple completes the Mediterranean feel with aromatic silvery foliage and magnificent deep purple flowers.
Together, these plants create a garden filled with fragrance, texture, evergreen foliage and flowers, while many become magnets for bees and other pollinating insects when in bloom.
They're particularly well suited to sunny borders, gravel gardens, raised beds, terracotta pots and containers where good drainage can be provided. Plant several varieties together and you can create a wonderfully natural Mediterranean-style planting that looks even better as the plants mature and begin to intermingle.
While newly planted herbs still need regular watering as they establish, once settled these varieties are naturally better equipped to cope with drier conditions than many traditional garden plants. Give them plenty of sunshine, avoid waterlogged soil and they'll reward you with a garden that's both beautiful and remarkably useful.

- Foxley Thyme – A beautiful variegated thyme with cream-and-green foliage, combining drought tolerance with year-round colour and aromatic leaves.
- Spicy Thyme – A strongly aromatic thyme with a bold character, perfect for sunny herb gardens and wonderfully useful in the kitchen.
- Common Thyme – The classic Mediterranean herb. Compact, aromatic and naturally at home in hot, sunny and free-draining conditions.
- Woolly Thyme – A wonderfully tactile, low-growing thyme with soft silvery foliage. Excellent for gravel gardens, edging, containers and spilling between stones.
- Sparkling Bright Thyme – An eye-catching thyme with colourful variegated foliage, bringing brightness and contrast to dry, sunny planting schemes.
- Lavender Impress Purple – A magnificent lavender with beautifully aromatic foliage and impressive deep purple flower spikes, bringing height, colour and that unmistakable Mediterranean character.
- Compact Marjoram – A neat, aromatic herb that forms attractive compact growth and enjoys the same warm, sunny conditions as thyme, rosemary and lavender.
- Purple Sage – Striking purple-grey foliage makes this both a useful culinary herb and a superb ornamental plant, particularly effective amongst silvery Mediterranean planting.
- Rosemary – One of the great drought-tolerant herbs, with evergreen needle-like foliage, intense fragrance and flowers that are hugely attractive to pollinating insects.

How big are the plants?
All herbs are supplied in 9cm pots. They will be freshly picked for your order. The condition of the plants is our primary concern when fulfilling your order. The foliage will differ in size throughout the season and may be clipped prior to dispatch. The herbs are not soft grown and have spent time in unheated conditions. They are a product designed not just to last a few days but to be grown on by yourselves and supply flavour for months to come.
