Gorgeous, beautiful and fragrant this variety of Lavender, 'Madrid Blue' is perfect for planting in containers or small spaces while generating maximum fragrance and colour. It's a slightly more unusual variety which creates dramatic interest in the garden originating from spain. When it comes into bloom you'll be wow'd by the blue flower heads with showy, white wings which will entice bees and butterflies into your garden for a feast.

Not only does it put on a magical show in the garden, but it's also a culinary delight which can be used in teas, baking, cooking and cocktails to enhance and complement a wide range of other flavours. To make your crop last as long as possible, we really recommend drying or dehydrating your lavender from the summer so that come winter you've got a healthy supply stowed away for use.

This variety is slightly less hardy than some of the other types of lavender available meaning it requires protection from frost, but fear not, a simple layer of fleece or move to a warmer greenhouse space will do the trick. Otherwise, Madrid Blue is a relatively low maintenance herb to grow enjoying full sun where possible which is drought tolerant. Be sure to keep deadheading the flowers throughout the season to maximise the number of blooms you get each year!

Another great variety to try is the Lavender 'Blue Star'!
