Lemongrass is a tropical herb known for its citrus flavour and fragrance. It is commonly used in culinary applications, especially in Asian cuisine, for its unique taste and aroma. Growing lemongrass in the UK can be a bit challenging due to its tropical origin, but it can be successfully cultivated with proper care. As one of the more unusual varieties to grow, this is a mus-have for those looking to create an interesting and well-rounded herb collection.

Lemongrass thrives in warm and tropical climates, so, in the UK, it's best to grow lemongrass in containers or pots that can be moved indoors during colder seasons to keep them protected. They're a sun-loving plant too, so ideally will be placed in an area which receives 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day.

You can harvest the leaves when they are young and tender for culinary use and they are fantastic for a wide array of dishes, particularly noodles, soups and curries. They pack a punch with flavour, even more so when grown with love and care.

While growing lemongrass in the UK might require some extra attention and protection during the colder months, it is certainly possible to enjoy this flavourful herb in your garden or on your windowsill and we definitely recommend giving it a go!
